Late Night Ratings: Friday, September 6, 2024

Note: LateNighter’s late night daily ratings reports are drawn from Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, and do not take include delayed and/or streaming views. They are generally posted on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 11:35 p.m. hour’s largest total audience on Friday, Sept. 6, while repeats of NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert split first place among P18-49.

Kimmel averaged 1,413,000 total viewers with 160,000 P18-49 at 11:35 p.m. this past Friday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +18% in total viewers and +74% in P18-49 from the previous night‘s first-run episode; up +46% and +43%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (another rebroadcast). Kumail Nanjiani and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) appeared on the program, and Rex Orange County was the musical guest.

The Tonight Show, which aired a repeat of its July 9 episode with guests DJ Khaled, Rita Ora and Hannah Berner, averaged 995,000 total viewers with 187,000 P18-49. That’s down -59% in total viewers and -75% in P18-49 compared to the previous night’s NFL-boosted episode. However, the telecast is up +21% and +65%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (another rebroadcast).

The repeat of Colbert’s Aug. 20 episode (featuring guests Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries ) averaged 1,205,000 total viewers and 187,000 P18-49 on Friday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -26% in total viewers and -4% in P18-49 from the previous night’s first-run episode; down -3% but up +14%, respectively, from the week-ago Late Show telecast (another rebroadcast).

Following Fallon was a repeat of Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ Aug. 20 episode (featuring Michael Keaton, and Conner O’Malley) . The telecast averaged 615,000 total viewers with 138,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -53% in total viewers and -69% in P18-49 from the previous night’s NFL-lifted episode; +22% and +62%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (another rebroadcast).

Following Colbert was a repeat of After Midnight‘s July 18 episode (featuring Mandy Moore, Chris Sullivan, and Milana Vayntrub). The telecast averaged 574,000 total viewers and 119,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s % in total viewers and % in P18-49 from a night earlier (a first-run episode); % and %, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (another rebroadcast).

Following Kimmel, Nightline‘s new episode for Friday averaged a timeslot-high 744,000 total viewers along with 129,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +1% in total viewers and a whopping +126% in P18-49 from a night earlier; up +21% and +45%, respectively, from the week-ago episode.
