Late Night Ratings: Friday, March 29, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

Lifted by an NCAA March Madness Sweet 16 lead-in, CBS’ late-night shows defeated their respective competition on Friday in P18-49 viewing, despite both shows airing repeats.

The Friday, March 29, 2024 telecast of The Late Show was a repeat of its March 6, 2024 episode, and it aired from 12:53-1:41 a.m. ET. The March 6 repeat airing averaged 339,000 P18-49 viewers this past Friday. Despite winning the measurement, that’s -2% from the day before, and -13% from the previous Friday’s Late Show airing, a repeat of the show’s Feb. 29, 2024 episode also delayed by March Madness. The March 6 Late Show repeat averaged 1,212,000 total viewers on Friday, which is -4% from the day before, and -2% from the prior Friday.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! was dark last week. The program aired a repeat of its March 13, 2024 episode this past Friday at 11:35 p.m., but did not submit Nielsen data for the telecast. Nightline, which of course airs right after JKL, also did not have Nielsen data submitted for its March 29, 2024 episode, one which focused on the Tupac murder probe.

Unlike its ABC and CBS competition, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon aired another original episode this past Friday. The episode’s 1,314,000 total viewer average at 11:35 p.m., is -5% from the day before, and -11% from the Friday before. Its 196,000 P18-49 viewer average is up +3% from the day before, but -8% from the Friday before.

Friday’s edition of The Tonight Show featured guest appearances from Sarah Paulson, Dev Patel, and Jackie Fabulous.

Staying on NBC, Late Night with Seth Meyers aired a repeat of its March 11, 2024 episode this past Friday, and averaged 630,000 total viewers and 145,000 P18-49 viewers in its regular 12:37 a.m. timeslot. That’s -23% in total viewers but up +1% in P18-49 viewers from the show’s Thursday, March 28 original episode. Late Night shed -19% in total viewers but gained +9% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Friday’s telecast, which was a repeat of its Jan. 30, 2024 episode.

CBS’ After Midnight aired a repeat of its Feb. 13, 2024 episode this past Friday, and it aired from 1:50-2:45 a.m. ET. The repeat airing averaged an impressive 222,000 P18-49 viewers, 640,000 total viewers. That’s represents a +12% gain in P18-49 viewers but a -4% drop in total viewers from the day before (also a repeat). The show was flat in total viewers and up +1% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Friday airing, which was a repeat of the show’s Feb. 6, 2024 episode.
