CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! did not air new episodes on Friday, Feb. 16, paving the way for NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to earn a dominant Nratings win in the key P18-49 demo.
With Jennifer Lopez, Alan Ritchson, Gary Clark Jr. making guest appearances, The Tonight Show averaged more than 1.56 million Total Viewers and 287,000 P18-49 viewers on Friday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. Relative to the night before (Thursday, Feb. 15), that’s up +24% in Total Viewers and +25% in P18-49 viewers, and compared with the most-recent Friday, the program is up +2% in Total Viewers and +20% in P18-49 viewers.
While NBC aired a new edition of The Tonight Show at 11:35 p.m., ABC showed repeat of Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s Jan. 25 broadcast, and CBS showed a repeat of The Late Show’s Feb. 11 broadcast in the timeslot. The Late Show still averaged the most Total Viewers on late-night on Friday, despite being a repeat.
At 12:37 a.m., NBC aired a repeat of Late Night with Seth Meyers’ Feb. 5 broadcast, and CBS aired a repeat of After Midnight’s Feb. 11 broadcast. Nevertheless, the two shows shared the Friday 12:37 a.m. ratings crown, with NBC averaging the most P18-49 viewers and CBS averaging the most Total Viewers.
ABC presented a new installment of Nightline on Feb. 16 at 12:37 a.m. The episode averaged 740,000 Total Viewers and 102,000 P18-49 viewers. Relative to the night before (Thursday, Feb. 15), that’s -13% in Total Viewers but up +44% in P18-49 viewers, and compared with the most-recent Friday, the program shed -9% in Total Viewers but gained +19% in P18-49 viewers.
