The complete eighth season of Last Week Tonight is now available for streaming on YouTube, completing the show’s season-long effort to make most of its back-catalogue available for free. (Those hoping to watch full episodes from the show’s most recent three seasons will still need a Max subscription here in the U.S.)
The 30-episode eighth season of Last Week Tonight originally aired from February through November 2021, with John Oliver covering topics like Tucker Carlson, COVID-19 vaccines, the military’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, and more.
The season also saw a number of surprise celebrity guests, from Rachel Dratch and Kermit the Frog to George Clooney and… George Clooney. Clooney appeared in five different episodes across the season—granted, for just a few seconds at a time. That’s because Oliver developed the power to summon the actor with the snap of his fingers.
“All of Season 8 is coming to our YouTube channel… for free! Just like that *snaps fingers*,” Last Week Tonight wrote alongside its announcement of the Season 8 release. “Oh god oh god please don’t say we trapped George Clooney in the digital realm please he is going to be SO pissed.”

Clooney briefly expands Oliver’s power in the season finale episode, allowing the host to cue up any celeb—leading to a bevy of celebrity cameos including Will Ferrell, Leslie Jones, Jennifer Coolidge, and Cardi B.
