Jon Stewart Once Sublet an Apartment from Everybody’s in LA Announcer Richard Kind

Jon Stewart isn’t among the many guest stars in the latest season of Only Murders in the Building—but it turns out that the The Daily Show host has a surprising connection to the Hulu series.

In a new interview with Curbed, actor Richard Kind—who plays suspect Vince “Stink-Eye Joe” Fish in Season 4 of the Emmy-nominated comedy series, and was John Mulaney’s announcer on Everybody’s in LA—revealed that, years ago, he sublet his apartment in New York City to Stewart.

“I got an apartment at 226 West 72nd Street. It was a studio, just one room with a closet,” Kind said. “The kitchen sink was right there in the room. It had a little bathroom and a little storage closet, that was it.”

“The rent was $176 a month,” the actor continued. “It was incredible. And if I had to go out of town for work, I would rent that apartment for no more than what I was paying—that was my patronage of the arts.”

In addition to Stewart, Kind’s future Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star Jeff Garlin was also a temporary tenant.

Kind and Stewart famously crossed paths again earlier this year when Stewart guested on Everybody’s in LA, which aired live on Netflix in May.

Kind is one of several Only Murders in the Building actors with a late night connection. The series stars former Saturday Night Live cast member Martin Short and frequent SNL host Steve Martin (and Tina Fey and Molly Shannon have appeared as recurring characters).

Only Murders in the Building Season 4 is streaming now on Hulu.
