Jon Stewart will be back behind The Daily Show anchor desk tonight, with the show’s regular Monday night host set to interview economic commentator and Bloomberg contributor Kyla Scanlon, who’s promoting her new book In This Economy? How Money & Markets Really Work.
It will be Stewart’s first episode since reports surfaced last week that both he and Stephen Colbert are on shaky ground at Comedy Central and CBS, respectively, as Paramount’s merger with Skydance nears completion.
Neither host has officially commented on that report, which came just a day after Stewart made waves on The Daily Show for openly criticizing his parent company for settling its legal dispute with Donald Trump over a 60 Minutes interview with Vice President Kamala Harris — a move Stewart called corporate capitulation to political pressure. (His guest, former 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft, termed Paramount’s settlement with Trump—as it awaits regulatory approval for its merger with Skydance—”a shakedown.”)
This week’s Tuesday through Thursday Daily Show host will be Jordan Klepper, marking his first week guest hosting since mid-June.
Klepper’s guests will include Atlantic staff writer Thomas Chatterton Williams on Tuesday (promoting his forthcoming book The Summer of Our Discontent), writer/director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson on Wednesday (promoting her new film I Know What You Did Last Summer), and comedian/musician Reggie Watts on Thursday (promoting the Reggie Watts Tour 2025).
