Jon Stewart, Desi Lydic Split Daily Show Anchor Desk This Week

Comedy Central’s “Best F**king News Team” is back to work tonight, with Jon Stewart kicking off a week of new episodes.

Stewart’s guest is Jane Fonda, the Oscar-winning actor and activist, who will be on to promote the Committee for the First Amendment’s “Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment,” taking place in NYC this Saturday, June 14.

The date was explicitly chosen by organizers to coincide with President Trump’s 80th birthday and provide a direct alternative to the “UFC Freedom 250” cage match being hosted that same evening on the White House South Lawn.

Desi Lydic will then take over the desk Tuesday through Thursday, marking her fifth week behind the Daily Show desk this year. Her most recent turn came just over a month ago, during the week of May 4.

Guest-wise, it’s an unusually starry week for The Daily Show, which in its current iteration often leans more toward authors, journalists, and policy figures than camera-ready Hollywood names.

Lydic’s first guest of the week on Tuesday is Laverne Cox, the actress and LGBTQ+ advocate currently promoting her memoir Transcendent.

On Wednesday, Lydic welcomes actor and producer Nina Dobrev, who is making the rounds for the new film The Get Out and her short film General Admission.

The week wraps Thursday with a two-guest booking: tennis legends Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, who will sit down with Lydic to discuss the Netflix documentary Chris & Martina: The Final Set.

Lydic, an 11-year Daily Show veteran, topped the show’s 2025 leaderboard among correspondent-hosts, hosting 29 nights across the year. (Michael Kosta came in second at 25.) She’s currently leading the group again as the first of the group to hit her fifth week behind the desk in 2026. Kosta and Jordan Klepper are close behind with four weeks apiece, while Ronny Chieng and Josh Johnson have each hosted three.

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, with episodes streaming the following day on Paramount+.
