Saturday Night Live has a New Year’s gift for fans: a cut-for-time sketch from the show’s John Mulaney-hosted November 2 episode.
The sketch re-imagines the rooftop interview scene from 1978’s Superman: The Movie, with Mulaney taking the Christopher Reeve part, and Sarah Sherman playing Margot Kidder’s Lois Lane. The twist is time around, they’re joined by Lois’ off-kilter roommate, Glenn Bechamel (Chloe Fineman).
“Glenn’s family own the apartment,” Lois explains. “So the rent is, like, super cheap.”
“Hey, nice tights, by the way.” Glenn says to Superman. “Woah, I can almost see your peanut. Well, lucky for you I’m deathly allergic. Otherwise, I would have bit that thing off. Clean off.”
This wasn’t the first time Fineman’s Bechamel has appeared in an SNL sketch. She previously appeared as a hot-mess of a bachelorette in a send-up of the Netflix reality series Too Hot to Handle when Travis Kelce hosted the show in March 2023
Mulaney’s SNL hosting stint, which featured musical guest Chappell Roan and a guest appearance from Kamala Harris just two days before Election Day delivered the show its highest ratings since May 2001.
Saturday Night Live is in the middle of its month-long winter break. It’s set to return with the first of two new episodes on January 18th. It’ll then go on another break ahead of the show’s hotly anticipated primetime 50th anniversary special on Sunday February 16th.
