If you’ve ever wondered what Jimmy Fallon does during commercial breaks on The Tonight Show, a new ad spot has an inventive take on what that might look like.
A promo for the latest collaboration between lifestyle brand Kith and golf equipment company TaylorMade sees Fallon taking his show—desk included—to Monterey, California’s Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The spot opens with Fallon behind a Tonight Show-esque desk, complete with a backdrop of New York City. After he tosses to break, a crew quickly removes the set, plus Fallon’s suit and tie, to reveal that he’s wearing his golf gear underneath. And that the show’s set is situated in the middle of the famed golf course.
Fallon shoots and scores an impressive hole-in-one, but barely has a moment to celebrate before it’s time to get back to the show. Fallon returns to host form, at least in voiceover, as The Tonight Show theme music cues up at the end of the ad and he welcomes his audience back.
While the ad steers clear of any Tonight Show branding, one wonders if Fallon will mention his latest gear endorsement on the show, as he has done for previous projects, like his Gobstopper-inspired MSCHF sneaker (a.k.a. The Gobstomper) in 2022.
It’s hardly Fallon’s first high-profile endorsement. In April 2014, just a few months after taking over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno, Ford tapped the former SNL star to be the spokesperson for their F-150 truck (it’s a partnership that continues to this day). In late 2023, State Farm brought back its iconic “Like a Good Neighbor” jingle with a star-studded lineup of names, including Fallon, rapper/actor Ludacris, and basketball star Caitlin Clark.
