CNN’s Have I Got News For You Preempted by Iran News

Tonight’s episode of Have I Got News For You will be preempted by breaking news coverage of the joint U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran early Saturday morning.

This week’s planned episode of the comedy panel series, which was taped Friday night and features guests sports journalist Bomani Jones and journalist Julia Ioffe, will instead be made available via the CNN App Saturday night and should land on HBO Max tomorrow.

It marks the second time in six weeks that HIGNFY has been preempted by breaking news. The first came in January after federal Border Patrol agents shot and killed Alex Pretti in Minneapolis the same day as the show’s Season 4 premiere.

The United States and Israel launched a military campaign against Iran early Saturday morning. In an overnight video statement, President Trump said the strikes target Iran’s military assets and nuclear program, arguing the regime poses an imminent threat to U.S. security after diplomatic efforts failed. The president has since announced that the attacks killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the nation’s supreme leader for nearly 37 years.

Since its U.S. debut in September 2024, Have I Got News For You has been a standout for CNN, drawing strong ratings on Saturday nights, where it follows an encore presentation of Real Time with Bill Maher. The show is hosted by Roy Wood Jr. alongside permanent team captains Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black.

I’d much rather watch “Have I got News for You” than the talking heads who know nothing about why Donald Trump is unconstitutionally attacking Iran. Bad choice to preempt a great show for people talking about nothing.

I so love HIGNFY that I wish each season had more episodes. I love you all, think you’re amazingly clever and in these dark times I need to see more of you. Come back very soon please ❤️

We don’t want to be stuck watching the,war all the time. We live this show as we at least have an hour a,week to laugh at all the horrible things, going on in our country. and with the continuous rising prices, who can afford to pay for another app.

I agree that HIGNFY should not get preempted continually by CNN breaking news. There is always something, and CNN reports for hours the same news over and over. I pay enough for cable every month, and don’t feel I should have to pay additionally for your streaming app. for preempted shows or any other news.
    Thanks!
