Hasan Minhaj Sets New Netflix Special: Off With His Head

Hasan Minhaj is teaming up with Netflix yet again for a new comedy special, Off with His Head. This marks Minhaj’s third comedy special for the streamer, following 2017’s Homecoming King and 2022’s The King’s Jester.

Taped at California’s San Jose Civic theater, the “provocative, hilarious, and at times unhinged hour” will find Minhaj addressing “politics, misguided self-improvement, and the challenges of life with young kids and aging parents,” according to Netflix.

Minhaj first rose to prominence as a senior correspondent on The Daily Show, where he worked from 2014 to 2018. He left the show in 2018 to host Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj, his own political comedy talk show for Netflix, which ran through 2020.

Following Trevor Noah‘s departure from The Daily Show in 2022, Minhaj was a frontrunner to take over hosting duties. But a New Yorker article about the comedian fabricating his material reportedly upended those plans.

“We’ve all failed in our lives, but have you ever failed so bad, you bring back Jon Stewart?,” Minhaj joked at the Netflix is a Joke festival this past May.

Earlier this summer, the comic launched a new interview series on YouTube, Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know. So far, he has welcomed both Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders as guests.

Outside of the comedy world, Minhaj’s acting career has also been keeping him busy. He most recently appeared in the feature films It Ends With Us and Babes, and has a role in the upcoming Tron: Ares. He’ll also be seen in Best of the Best, a movie he wrote with his Patriot Act co-creator Prashanth Venkataramanujam.

Hasan Minhaj: Off with His Head premieres globally on Netflix on October 22.
