Grace Reiter’s hometown is making a night of her Saturday Night Live debut.
Micon Cinemas in Chippewa Falls, Wis., is hosting a free watch party Saturday night as the 25-year-old local native makes her first appearance as an SNL featured player.
And before Reiter appears live from New York, the theater is putting another of her projects on the big screen.
The evening is set to begin at 9:30 p.m. local time with a screening of The Hunger Games (But Better), the viral 42-minute YouTube parody Reiter made last year with a group that included her sister, Molly.
Then at 10:30 p.m., the screen will switch over to NBC for the Season 52 premiere of SNL and Reiter’s debut on the show. Her mother, Valerie Reiter, Molly Reiter, and other members of the Reiter family are expected to be on hand for the event.
And if Reiter draws a big hometown crowd, Micon says it’s prepared: the theater plans to open additional auditoriums as needed.
As LateNighter reported last week, Reiter is one of two new featured players joining SNL this season, alongside Saidah Belo-Osagie.
Reiter, who grew up in Chippewa Falls, first gained attention producing online sketches before becoming a regular performer in American High’s digital comedy projects. Her credits also include HBO’s The Chair Company and the upcoming series Minimum Wage, which she co-wrote and directed.
Saturday’s season premiere will be hosted by New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson, with KATSEYE as musical guest.
