Colin Jost Cameos in Scarlett Johansson’s Fly Me to the Moon

Colin Jost knows the key to his wife Scarlett Johansson’s heart: cameos.

Jost makes a cameo in Johansson’s new rom-com, Fly Me to the Moon. The film, which takes place during the 1960s Space Race, centers on the unlikely romance between a marketing executive (Johansson) and the NASA director in charge of the Apollo 11 launch (Channing Tatum).

However, the “Weekend Update” co-anchor may not have had much of a choice when it came to the cameo. On Monday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Johansson joked that Jost appearing in the film was part of their “prenuptial agreement.”

“Greg Berlanti, who was our director, is a huge fan of Colin’s,” the Black Widow actress told Fallon. “And Colin, I think he had to do it because it’s, like, in our prenuptial agreement. If I ask him to do something, he has to be there to support me.”

“He has to be in every one of my films,” she added as Fallon laughed.

Jost’s role in Fly Me to the Moon is just the latest professional collaboration for the husband-and-wife team. Johansson was famously enlisted by him for her scene-stealing role as Katie Britt on this past season of SNL.

Although the couple didn’t begin dating until 2017, they actually met on the set of SNL back in 2006. At the time, Johansson was hosting an episode, while Jost—who had started on the show only a year prior—was a staff writer.

“The first time [Johansson] hosted was the first year I was a writer on the show,” Jost told Entertainment Tonight in 2017. “So, we’ve kind of known each other since then… she’s the best.”

Fly Me to the Moon hits theaters July 12.
