Fallon’s Tonight Show Plans Special Post-NFL Sunday Episode

He may not be working Fridays anymore, but Jimmy Fallon will punching in on a Sunday next month.

Variety’s Brian Steinberg scooped Friday morning that NBC’s Tonight Show will air a special post-Sunday Night Football episode following the Colts-Jets game on November 17th.

Fallon’s guests that night will include Jon Hamm, Lindsay Lohan, and Pharrell.

Steinberg reports that Fallon will tape the episode earlier in the day before heading out to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to make some promotional appearances at the game itself as it airs live.

“Every time we get the opportunity to work with our friends at NBC Sports, it’s something we look forward to,” said Fallon’s EP Chris Miller in a statement. “We can’t wait to bring our show to fans of Sunday Night Football—it’s going to be a must-watch night of TV.”

“What a great night of entertainment with a special airing of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, following Sunday Night Football. Jimmy and the show have been great collaborators with NBC Sports over the years,” said NBC Sports President Rick Cordella, in a statement.

Fallon’s football lead-in will almost certainly give the show a ratings boost. Jimmy Kimmel Live! has reaped the benefits of his Monday Night Football lead-in over several recent weeks, easily winning Monday nights and upping his weekly and monthly ratings averages substantially.

It won’t be Fallon’s first time getting a taste of the Sunday night post-gridiron action. He hosted a string of five Tonight Show episodes following Sunday Night Football back in 2019, and two after The Super Bowl–in 2018 and 2015.

Fallon’s most recent collaboration with NBC Sports came over the summer when he co-anchored NBC’s coverage of the Closing Ceremonies at the Paris Olympics.
