It may ending going the way of that cage match with Mark Zuckerberg, but for the moment it appears Elon Musk is game to sit down with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show to talk DOGE.
Following Stewart’s impassioned DOGE-themed monologue Monday night, Musk responded to a suggestion from internet personality (and former Tesla employee) Farzad Mesbahi that he appear on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to talk about DOGE.
“I will do it if the show airs unedited,” Musk replied. That challenge has apparently been accepted. Less than an hour ago, The Daily Show responded to Musk via on X, “We’d be delighted.”
In the post that got this ball rolling, Mesbahi suggested that if Musk and Stewart talked about DOGE on The Daily Show for an hour, “the amount of headway and the amount of progress we would make as a country to actually get a lot of these things codified and actually propagate through the entirety of the United States–not just at the federal level, not just at the executive branch, but through Congress, through all the state and local governments, I think it would go a really long way.”
Though Stewart expressed anger to the point of injuring himself Monday about the seemingly indiscriminate cuts made in recent weeks by DOGE, he said he agreed in principle with the idea of making the government more efficient, and offered his own suggestions for cutting government waste.
Time will tell whether Stewart and Musk will in fact meet face-to-face, but if they did it would certainly be must-see late-night TV. We’ll keep you updated.
