Just days after announcing her Saturday Night Live exit, Ego Nwodim is already stepping into her next act—and she’s doing it in leggings.
The comedian and actor stars in a new campaign for Solidcore, the boutique fitness brand known for its grueling reformer-based strength workouts. The spot, part of the brand’s newly launched “Get Obsessed” campaign, pairs Nwodim with fellow comic Lily Sullivan in a locker room showdown of one-upmanship over who is the most devoted Solidcore superfan.
“I always get here early. I’m obsessed with [solidcore],” Nwodim declares at the start of the spot, sparking an escalating volley of confessions: Sullivan admits she writes Solidcore mantras on her bathroom wall (“my landlord’s furious”), while Nwodim brags that she’s “done a billion classes” and even volunteers as a cheerleader—complete with an enthusiastic “Let’s go split squat!” The pair are eventually interrupted by a Solicare coach asking if they’re okay. They assure her they are, before heading off to class together, still muttering about their shared obsession.
According to Solidcore, Nwodim doesn’t just star in the campaign—she helped shape it. A longtime client with hundreds of classes under her belt, she collaborated with the brand and its agency Farrynheight to craft a concept that celebrates the culture of devotion among its regulars, who are known to plan their lives around class schedules. The new spot, directed by Quinn Meyers, headlines a broader national push that spans social, digital, and in-studio activations.
Nwodim, whose departure from SNL after seven seasons came as a shock to most, has said she’s eager to create work that feels like her own. “This isn’t just a workout for me, it’s a practice that has helped me build strength and endurance that serve me well beyond the 50 minutes I spend in class,” she says of her collaboration with Solidcore. “To bring a genuine passion into a brand partnership and to get to share it with friends feels incredibly special.”
Apparently Nwodim has previously shared her passion for the brand with her SNL castmates. Commenting on Nwodim’s Instgram post about the new partnership, Heidi Gardner—who’s been radio silent it was revealed she was exiting SNL this season—wrote: “I’ll never get over the class you took me too. Like pain wise I won’t. And also that they played the Pirates of the Caribbean score.”
