The Daily Show Returns With Jon Stewart and Desi Lydic Sharing Anchor Duties

After allowing itself a brief respite opposite NBC’s well-watched Winter Olympics coverage, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show is back in action this week with Jon Stewart and Desi Lydic sharing anchor duties.

Stewart kicks things off tonight with guest A. Mechele Dickerson, a University of Texas School of Law professor who is out promoting her new book, The Middle-Class New Deal: Restoring Upward Mobility and the American Dream.

Beginning Tuesday, Daily Show senior correspondent Lydic takes over hosting duties through Thursday.

Padma Lakshmi is Tuesday’s guest, one night ahead of the premiere of America’s Culinary Cup, her new CBS cooking competition.

On Wednesday, Lydic is set to sit down with Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price, co-authors of The Amazing Generation: Your Guide to Fun and Freedom in a Screen-Filled World.

Thursday brings actress Christa Miller, who is out promoting the latest season of Shrinking, the acclaimed Apple TV comedy on which she plays Liz—neighbor of Jason Segel’s Jimmy.

This will mark Lydic’s second run behind the desk this season; her previous turn came just four weeks ago. The 11-year Daily Show vet topped the show’s 2025 leaderboard among all of her fellow rotating correspondent-hosts, hosting the show 29 nights across the year. (Michael Kosta came in second at 25.)

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, with episodes streaming the following day on Paramount+.

who do folks think would take over as permanent host if Jon does truly retire?

or will the show be gone as well?

    1. Probably a mediocre white dude, like Kostas says:

That’s how these things always play out!

    2. Cameron says:

Jon Stewart should step aside and let Desi Lydic host the Dailey Show. Jon seems to have gone from sharp and perceptive to loud and farcical.

      Jon was and Desi is.

She has a perfect comedic balance without the histrionics.

Love The Daily Show with John, Desi, Michael & Ronny It’s the BEST Laugh we get each night & we are watching from Melbourne Australia. We just can not wait to see stuff Trump does in that whacky USA.
