Dave Grohl Joins SNL Homecoming Concert Lineup

Another familiar face from the pantheon of Saturday Night Live musical guests is making a homecoming. Dave Grohl has been added to the show’s upcoming musical celebration at Radio City Music Hall.

While Grohl was not mentioned in NBCUniversal’s initial announcement of the concert, his name popped up in a new promo spot for the event. Consequence later confirmed the booking.

Until recently, the Foo Fighters frontman hadn’t headlined a performance since September, when the revelation he had welcomed a baby outside of his marriage led him to cancel the band’s planned shows. But Grohl re-emerged just last week for a surprise Nirvana reunion at FireAid, a benefit concert for Los Angeles wildfire relief.

Grohl was interviewed for Questlove’s just-released documentary Ladies & Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music, which devoted a segment to Nirvana’s two turns as musical guest. All told, Grohl has appeared on Saturday Night Live more than any other musician. By way of his work with Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Them Crooked Vultures, and a guest drummer spot for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Grohl has commanded the Studio 8H stage 15 times.

In addition to Grohl, SNL50: The Homecoming Concert will feature performances by Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, David Byrne, DEVO, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons, Post Malone, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, The B-52s, and The Roots. Jimmy Fallon will host the event.

SNL50: The Homecoming Concert will stream live on Peacock Friday February 14th at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT.
