SNL Stars Carvey & Spade Double Down on Fly on the Wall Podcast with New Deal

The podcast that reunited Saturday Night Live alums Dana Carvey and David Spade isn’t going anywhere.

Carvey and Spade have renewed their deal with Audacy to continue hosting Fly on the Wall, the SNL-centric podcast they launched in 2022. Under the new pact, the show will expand its format—adding full video episodes and folding in their Superfly spinoff for a more streamlined twice-weekly release.

According to a press release from Audacy, the revamped Fly on the Wall will also introduce interactive elements like fan-submitted questions. It’s a move in line with broader trends in the podcast world, as legacy audio shows like Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend and Armchair Expert have increasingly embraced video and audience engagement.

“You could say our spinoff show Superfly was a test run,” Spade jokes in a trailer teasing the update (above). “Now we’re in it. Now we’re going all in.”

Originally launched under Audacy’s now-defunct Cadence13 banner, Fly on the Wall was created as a love letter to SNL’s long history, with Carvey and Spade interviewing castmembers, hosts, and writers. The duo added Superfly in early 2023 as a looser, more topical hangout show—one that, unlike the flagship podcast, featured full video episodes on YouTube.

Now, Superfly will be absorbed into the main feed. Going forward, Fly on the Wall will drop two episodes a week: one featuring a guest interview, and another with just Carvey and Spade riffing on current events and life. And while the podcast started as SNL-focused, its guest list has steadily expanded. Recent episodes have featured everyone from Pete Holmes to Ke Huy Quan to Lisa Kudrow.

New episodes will now land on Mondays and Thursdays—a shift from the previous Wednesday/Friday schedule. The first Thursday drop, set for this week, will feature actress Julie Bowen.

Carvey and Spade overlapped at Saturday Night Live from 1990 to 1993, and their ongoing collaboration has even looped back to the show itself. During Carvey’s extended Season 50 guest run, Spade joined him for a surprise return to “Church Chat.”

I was a Carvey fan before this podcast. He is absolutely insufferable on this.
