Daily Show’s Michael Kosta Books Guest Role on Tracy Morgan’s New NBC Show

Michael Kosta is stepping away from the Daily Show anchor desk to… sit behind a SportsCenter-style desk, on NBC’s new sitcom starring Tracy Morgan.

Saturday Night Live vet Morgan headlines The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, playing a disgraced former football star who is on a mission to rehabilitate his image with the help of award-winning filmmaker Arthur Tobin (Miracle Workers‘ Daniel Radcliffe). “In order to earn back the admiration of his fans and the respect of his family, Reggie will also have to confront the ghosts of his past,” the series’ logline tells us.

Per Variety, Kosta is set to guest-star in a Season 1 episode as as Brett Mann, the smug, self-important host of a SportsCenter-style program.

Reggie Dinkins hails from writers/co-showrunners Robert Carlock and Sam Means, with Morgan, SNL/30 Rock vet Tina Fey, Eric Gurian, and David Miner also serving as executive producers.

The sitcom’s cast also includes Erika Alexander (Last Man Standing), Bobby Moynihan (SNL, NCIS: Origins), Precious Way (Days of Our Lives), and Jalyn Hall (All American).

Kosta—a former pro tennis player and a stand-up comedian—is not entirely a stranger to acting, having played roles in Netflix’s Emily Blunt-led Pain Hustlers crime movie and the 2024 short Good Dad.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins gets a special sneak peek this Sunday at 10/9c, leading out of NBC’s coverage of the Rams-Bears NFL playoff game, before settling into its regular Mondays-at-8:30 slot starting February 23.
