Colbert Sets 20th ‘Rescue Dog Rescue’ With Cast of The Boys

The Boys stars are using their powers for good.

Series stars Antony Starr (Homelander), Chace Crawford (The Deep), and Colby Minifie (Ashley) will appear on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight (Monday, July 8) to participate in the 20th installment of “Rescue Dog Rescue.”

In “Rescue Dog Rescue,” Colbert and his celebrity guests tell flattering white lies about adorable rescue dogs to help them find their forever homes. The program is run in conjunction with North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization.

This isn’t the first time a cast member from The Boys has guested on The Late Show. Karl Urban (Billy) stopped by to promote Season 2 in June 2022; during the episode, he casually challenged Colbert to a superhero duel using their “laser powers.”

Past “Rescue Dog Rescue” celebrity participants have included Daniel Radcliffe, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Garner, Emma Thompson, Oscar Isaac, Nick Offerman, Jason Sudeikis, Whoopi Goldberg, Emma Stone, Nick Jonas, Billy Eichner, Ellie Kemper, Jim Parsons, Bryan Cranston, and Aubrey Plaza.

There have also been “Superhero” and Game of Thrones editions, featuring Tom Holland and Emilia Clarke, respectively. Anderson Cooper, Andy Cohen, and John Oliver have made appearances on “Rescue Dog Rescue” as well.

Of course, Colbert is also a proud dog parent himself. His Boykin Spaniel, Benny, made his debut on The Late Show in December 2019 when he was just a puppy and has appeared as a guest on the show several times since.

Season 4 of The Boys is currently streaming on Prime Video.
