For the third consecutive week, CNN’s comedy panel show Have I Got News for You is being preempted as the network continues extended coverage of the war in Iran.
The latest episode of the show, taped Friday night, will not air on CNN as originally scheduled Saturday evening. Instead, the program will debut on the CNN app at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, with the episode also set to stream on HBO Max beginning Sunday.
This week’s episode features guest panelists comedians Ophira Eisenberg and Moshe Kasher.
The preemption comes as CNN continues wall-to-wall coverage of the conflict that began three weeks ago with coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran. The military campaign—and its widening regional fallout—has dominated the news cycle since, prompting the network to prioritize live reporting and analysis across its schedule.
It marks the third consecutive week that Have I Got News for You has been displaced by the ongoing war coverage—and the fourth out of seven-episodes so far this spring to be bumped from its scheduled CNN timeslot, meaning the series has been preempted more often than not this season.
As previously reported, the U.S. version of Have I Got News for You has been a steady performer for CNN since its debut in September 2024. The show airs Saturdays following an encore presentation of Real Time with Bill Maher and is hosted by Roy Wood Jr. alongside team captains Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black.
CNN’s scheduled re-airing of Real Time with Bill Maher is also being preempted this week.

Seems to me that it has everything to do with the upcoming takeover by Trump’s sycophant Ellison. Give us a break! They have 49 seconds video of Have I Got News for You about Jeanine Pirro’s reaction to the court blocking the subpoena on Powell Also I don’t have or want the app. I pay extra for CNN on my cable and starting to be a waste of money. I can watch CNN in the morning and they have the same story all day.
I wish CNN would take a break and run Have I Got News for You. When CNN has a story they repeat over and over all day with each announcer using their own sources but it all ends the same.

So disappointing that CNN does not even give ‘Have I Got News for You’ a second viewing on television – I don’t want to watch it on the ‘app’. This program has been my joyful escape from all the horrible things that are going on during this second round of the trump administration. I am a paid subscriber and watch CNN almost exclusively. I look forward to a little laughter on Saturday nights. Please at least re-broadcast these episodes. These are wonderfully talented and funny actors. They deserve to be acknowledged!

I don’t stream therefore I don’t have the app or HBO max. Meanwhile I’m missing this show 3 straight weeks for coverage for that hasn’t changed much for 3 straight weeks. CNN talks about the same story all day and says ‘Breaking News’ when the so-called story broke hours ago. Did the same thing with ‘The 80’s’ and other programs. They should have a CNN2 just for programs or put their taped shows on Demand for people that don’t have the app. Could really use some comedy right now.

I think showing Bill Maher and Have I Got News would be a welcome respite from the constant stream of “same ol’, same ol’ war news.

There are only 2 programs that I look forward to on CNN Saturday night: Bill Maher and Have I Got News For You.
They have not been shown for the past two weeks (nor will they be on tonight) because of the coverage of Trump’s war in Iran!!! We see enough of that all week long! Why do we have to constantly miss these two programs?
