Bill Maher will be back on the standup stage on HBO this January.
The Real Time With Bill Maher host’s latest comedy special, Bill Maher: Is Anyone Else Seeing This?, is set to premiere on the premium channel in January. It will be taped in front of a live audience at the CIBC Theater in Chicago, Illinois in early December.
“I almost called this special You Won’t Feel Safe, because if you’re purely a team player in American politics, you won’t,” Maher said in a press release. “This one is for the 80% of Americans who want to see crazy called out no matter where it comes from. And the last 20 minutes on my sex life, that’s for everybody.”
This marks Maher’s 13th overall special for HBO. His first headliner for the network, One Night Stand, debuted in 1989. His most recent HBO special, #Adulting, premiered in 2022.
“Bill’s comedic commentary has been an extraordinary part of HBO for 12 specials and 22 seasons of Real Time with Bill Maher,” Nina Rosenstein, EVP, Late Night & Specials Programming, said in a statement. “We truly value his steadfast commitment to honesty and humor, which we know will be front and center in his next special.”
Maher, who’s got a busy dance card between his HBO series and his Club Random Studios podcast network, typically takes to the road for two to three dates a month. The comic’s new hour is based on material he’s been crafting since kicking off his “WTF Tour” in Spring 2023.
Maher is credited as an executive producer on Bill Maher: Is Anyone Else Seeing This?, along with Marc Gurvitz, Marcus Raboy, and Neal Marshall. Rhonda Freeson is also a producer.
