Amy Schumer has a pitch for SNL50: a sequel to the most-viewed sketch in Saturday Night Live history.
The comedian, who’s hosted the show three times, holds the distinction of starring in SNL‘s most-watched YouTube video: “Porn Teacher.” Aired during her first time hosting in October 2015, the sketch depicts Schumer playing an adult film star who, in turn, portrays a teacher in the video Hot for Teacher 8.
Cast member Aidy Bryant plays an oblivious student who repeatedly interrupts Schumer’s trist with another student, played by Kyle Mooney.
The sketch has amassed over 106 million views since it was posted to YouTube after it aired.
Given its success, Schumer has an idea for a sequel that can be staged at SNL’s upcoming live 50th anniversary special. She tossed around the idea on The Howard Stern Show yesterday, after Stern pointed out the sketch’s unexpected online success.
“Can you believe that?” Schumer replied, explaining that she only recently learned of the sketch’s YouTube success.
“Like a month ago, somebody said that to me, and I’m like ‘No way,’ she recalled. “I was shocked to hear that. But then you’re like, ‘Oh, of course. Everybody’s a pervert.’”
“I want to bring it back for the 50th, where I’m like a realtor or something,” Schumer told Stern.
“It has more [views] than, like, “Cowbell,” Schumer added, referencing the infamous Will Ferrell/Christopher Walken sketch that’s so beloved it just recently got its own documentary. “That’s what my son will remember me for.”
“It’s ridiculous,” she went on. “That’s so many views. Like, what about The Best of Chris Farley? Nope, me and Kyle Mooney being completely idiots.”
“If that was the only thing you had ever done, that would still be big,” Stern told her.
“That will outlive all of us,” echoed Schumer.
SNL50: The Anniversary Special airs on NBC Sunday, February 16, from 8-11pm ET.
