Trekkies will want to be sure to stay up for After Midnight next week. Taylor Tomlinson’s CBS comedy/panel show will welcome three stars of Star Trek: Lower Decks to play for points next week.
The Monday, October 14 episode of After Midnight will feature Tawny Newsome, Eugene Cordero, and Jerry O’Connell as panelists. The three actors all voice characters in the animated Star Trek series that is about to enter its 5th season.
The episode will be O’Connell’s second visit to After Midnight. He last guested on the program in late January.
It’s not the first time After Midnight has taken advantage of its 3-person panel format to create a theme with its guest lineup. In July, the show held a mini reunion of the ‘90s kids sketch show All That with Kel Mitchell, Lori Beth Denberg, and Danny Tamberelli. A week later, it reunited three cast members from the NBC drama series This Is Us.
In this case, there’s some corporate synergy at work. Star Trek: Lower Decks airs on Paramount+, the streaming service owned by Paramount Global, parent company of After Midnight’s network CBS. O’Connell is also a co-host on The Talk, the CBS daytime talk series whose final season is slated to wrap in December.
The first two episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks’ new season will premiere on the streamer Thursday, October 24.
