Jon Stewart Thanks Viewers, Staff After Daily Show Renewal—Watch

Jon Stewart took a moment at the end of Monday night’s Daily Show to acknowledge the show’s newly announced two-year renewal—and thank the viewers and staff he credited with making it possible.

“I just wanted to mention before we go a little bit of good news,” Stewart said before signing off. “For those of you who enjoy The Daily Show… I am sure you are out there somewhere.”

Stewart then referenced his previously stated desire to keep the show going through the next presidential election.

“We told you a while back that we were going to do everything in our power to continue to be on the air through this next presidential election, and I am truly happy to announce that it has come to pass,” he said, drawing cheers and applause from the studio audience.

The announcement came hours after Skydance Television confirmed that Stewart had signed a new deal to host The Daily Show on Mondays and remain an executive producer through December 2028.

Stewart jokingly offered thanks to the show’s corporate parent—“We are very appreciative to the dancer in the sky. Sky dancer.”—before turning his attention to viewers.

“We could not have done it without the support of the audience that has stayed with us through all of the ups and downs of this very unusual moment in the industry that we have,” Stewart said. “Without your support, there would be no leverage for us to keep this thing on the air.”

He also thanked The Daily Show staff and crew.

“They keep it at the level that has made it so good,” Stewart said. “And I never said this before, and you may not even know this, but when I am not here, they still have to do the show!”

After another round of laughs and applause, Stewart added: “I mean, can you believe it? They are working more than one day a week!”

“But thank you, all, very much,” he concluded. “We could not be happier, and we are delighted to keep this damn thing going.”

Stewart’s new deal marks his first multi-year renewal since returning to The Daily Show in 2024. The agreement takes Stewart and The Daily Show through the show’s 33rd season. Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic will continue to share hosting duties Tuesday through Thursday, with Troy Iwata and Grace Kuhlenschmidt continuing as correspondents.

The renewal puts to rest months of uncertainty surrounding Stewart’s future at the cable channel. His previous deal had been set to expire at the end of this year, even as The Daily Show was enjoying one of its strongest stretches in years.

According to Skydance, the show recently posted its best third-quarter total audience in eight years, while its social accounts have generated 1.9 billion views in 2026. The Daily Show also won two Emmys in September.
