De La Soul has dropped out of Wednesday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Brooklyn. Singer-songwriter Audrey Hobert will take over as musical guest.
No reason has been given for the cancellation.
The hip-hop group was set to perform on the third of Kimmel’s five shows this week from the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House. It would have been De La Soul’s third Kimmel appearance, after visits to the show in Los Angeles in 2019 and last November, when Posdnuos and Maseo performed songs from Cabin in the Sky, their first album since the 2023 death of Trugoy the Dove.
Billy Crystal and Mahershala Ali remain booked as Wednesday’s guests.
The booking will be Hobert’s Kimmel debut. She made her network late-night debut last October on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, after breaking out as a co-writer on Gracie Abrams’ 2024 album The Secret of Us. Her own debut album, Who’s the Clown?, followed in 2025, led by the single “Sue Me.” Hobert was born in New York City and grew up in Los Angeles.
De La Soul is the second musical act to drop off Kimmel’s Brooklyn week after Bruce Springsteen pulled out of Tuesday night’s show.
Kimmel’s Brooklyn run continues Thursday with John Oliver, Seth Meyers, and Robby Hoffman. It wraps with a rare first-run Friday episode featuring Paul McCartney, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and musical guest Goose.
