If you’ve ever wanted to dress like Sarah Sherman, today may be your chance.
The Saturday Night Live cast member—also known by her comedy alter ego Sarah Squirm—is holding a closet sale in New York City on Tuesday, with proceeds benefiting the New York Immigration Coalition.
Sherman’s sale begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Surrender Dorothy in Manhattan.
In keeping with the Sarah Squirm aesthetic, this won’t be your average closet sale. Sherman says the event will also feature free balloon twisting courtesy of wardrobe stylist Dot Bass, one of her fashion collaborators.
As for what shoppers can expect to take home, Sherman put it rather indelicately in an Instagram post announcing the sale: “come collect the rags i’ve STUNK and LEAKED IN !! happy ‘fashion week’ lol.”
Those “rags” could make for a particularly interesting haul. Sherman is known for a look all her own, favoring loud colors, exaggerated silhouettes, vintage pieces, and accessories that tend to be as distinctive as her comedy.
Surrender Dorothy would seem to share her point of view. The West 17th Street shop, which opened last year, deals in an eclectic mix of vintage clothing and pieces by emerging designers, with an emphasis on the theatrical and unconventional.
The New York Immigration Coalition represents more than 200 immigrant and refugee rights groups across the state, advocating on issues ranging from legal services and workers’ rights to health care, education, and immigration enforcement.
Though NBC has yet to make any official cast announcements, Sherman is expected to return for her sixth season when SNL’s 52nd season kicks off September 26.
