The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has crossed another social-media milestone, hitting 30 million followers on its TikTok account.
It’s a fitting distinction for a show whose biggest competitive advantage in the current late-night landscape may be its reach beyond television.
It’s not just the most-followed late-night show on the platform. Tonight is now the most-followed standalone television show on TikTok, with an audience larger than the accounts for global hits like Stranger Things, Squid Game, and reality heavyweights including The Voice and Love Island.
TikTok is just one part of a coordinated digital operation that counts more than 100 million followers across its overall digital and social footprint.
YouTube has become a home for the show’s longer interviews and extended material, while TikTok and Instagram are where shorter Tonight Show moments are most likely to take off.
The latest example came in the wake of Dolly Parton’s death. NBC says posts remembering Parton from The Tonight Show and Fallon’s personal account have generated more than 100 million views between them, along with what the network described as an “incredible outpouring of love and positivity from fans.”
Nine-figure social audiences have become familiar territory for Tonight. Among the show’s biggest recent hits, NBC says a World Cup piece featuring Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal drew 135 million views across platforms, while an Erling Haaland-Tom Holland video reached 145 million.
The show’s biggest TikTok hit of the past year was its Stranger Things “Rap Recap,” which has drawn 197 million views on the platform alone—and 270 million across platforms.
All this social media currency is worth a continental dollar and this website knows this.
The coping is just pathetic. You don’t have to be political to acknowledge this industry is dead.
If any of these youtube or tiktok views had a fraction of the value this website is touting the advertisements would not be drying up.
Where did Colbert go? Did he start a show on youtube with his ‘tens of millions of followers?’
Of course not because he is not going to suffer such declasse so openly. A million views on youtube is worth approximately $7,000. That is a lot of money for some amateur podcaster in his gamer chair, but not the gatekeeper of the entertainment industry.
His salary was $16 million. His bloated staff lost CBS $40-50 million annually because the business model relied on big advertisement dollars so heavily.
it has NOTHING to do with politics. If he rebranded as the Trump show it would not change the outcome. The problem is structural.
