Rosie O’Donnell Caps Kimmel Week With a Musical Message for Trump

Rosie O’Donnell closed out her week guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night with one last message for Donald Trump—a personalized rendition of “Danny Boy.”

“I would like to close my final monologue here with a traditional Irish song dedicated to a very special boy,” O’Donnell said before launching into the parody.

“O Donnie boy, it’s Rosie, Rosie calling / From Hollywood, The Jimmy Kimmel Show,” she sang. “Drop that Big Mac that we all know you’re holding / Because, my dear, I worry for you so.”

From there, O’Donnell worked her way through a checklist of Trump grievances, from his poll numbers and the White House ballroom to Iran, inflation and the return of measles.

“Poor Donnie boy, your polls, your polls are falling / Your reflecting pool is green as Mountain Dew / Your wig’s a mess, your ballroom is appalling / And with Iran, you’ve bit off more than you can chew.”

She also took aim at Trump’s late-night posting habits and various merchandise ventures before arriving at her proposed solution.

“But there’s a way to end this drama / It’s time to use that stable genius brain,” O’Donnell sang, drawing cheers before continuing: “Since we all know you’ll never be Obama / Why not resign and make this country great again?”

She repeated the plea to close the song: “Come on, resign and make this country great again.”

The musical sendoff capped a week in which O’Donnell took regular shots at Trump without ever actually saying his name, instead cycling through nicknames including “Mango Mussolini,” “President Oompa Loompa” and, on Thursday, “Orange Voldemort.”

Earlier in the monologue, she thanked everyone who had watched her guest-hosting stint, “especially the hungry, hungry hypocrite in the White House.”

“Kind of weird to think he spent more nights with me this week than Melania,” O’Donnell joked.

But her biggest thanks went to Kimmel himself.

“Most of all, I’d like to thank Jimmy Kimmel for inviting me to do this,” O’Donnell said, “and for reminding everyone that we have the right to free speech in this country, whether Orange Voldemort likes it or not.”
