SNL Invited The Pitt Star to Join Parody—Here’s Why He Had to Decline

Dr. Langdon himself aka The Pitt cast member Patrick Ball nearly scrubbed in for Saturday Night Live‘s recent parody of the HBO Max medical drama.

Sadly, he wasn’t able to procure the proper referral in time.

Last month’s SNL hosted by Harry Styles served up a send-up of the acclaimed series by way of a promo for MAHAspital, a medical drama produced by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., “for people who love The Pitt, but can’t stand its phony liberal science.”

In the spoof, Styles plus SNL cast members Ben MarshallJeremy CulhaneVeronika Slowikowska, and Ashley Padilla played doctors and nurses who confidently prescribed alternative treatments such as steak, bull semen, raw milk, and “a cold plunge in blue jeans.”

Ball was in New York City at the time preparing for his debut in the Broadway play Becky Shaw, and got an invite to cameo in MAHAspital.

“I actually got a call late, late, midnight, the night before. They were trying to get me in the skit,” Ball shared on NBC’s Today. But on such short notice, “We didn’t have time to go through the proper channels and get it cleared. So it didn’t work out,” he explained.

As a pretty sweet consolation prize, Ball and Pitt co-star Isa Briones (who’s also in town, for her role in the Broadway musical Just in Time) were invited to watch that Saturday’s SNL staging from no less than Lorne Michaels’ office.

What’s more, the duo were invited to the famous SNL afterparty, where “we got to meet Harry Styles,” Ball said. There, “I watched Isa absolutely lose her freaking cool.”
