Move over, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Michael Strahan: Nick Jonas is about to become Jimmy Fallon’s most frequent guest.
Jonas’ Wednesday night visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will mark the 23rd episode he’s appeared in since Fallon took over the franchise in February 2014, breaking a three-way tie the 33-year-old musician-actor currently shares with Miranda and Strahan at 22 appearances apiece.
As with most things involving late-night guest-counting, there’s some fine print. Jonas’ total does not consist entirely of traditional couch interviews. His Fallon résumé includes solo visits, Jonas Brothers appearances, musical performances, and several cameos in comedy bits and games.
Among the show’s most-visited guests, Strahan remains the reigning champ when it comes to sit-down guest appearances. All 22 of Strahan’s visits to The Tonight Show have been formal interviews with Fallon.
Jonas’ most recent Tonight Show appearances came in February of this year, when he visited the show twice in the span of three days. Wednesday’s return will move him one ahead of both Miranda and Strahan, giving him the outright record for total appearances on Fallon’s Tonight Show.
Fallon’s other guests tonight have some catching up to do if they hope to break Jonas’ record. Amy Sedaris has five Fallon appearances to her name, while musical guest Violet Grohl is making her Tonight Show debut.
