A pair of “Air Lithgow” sneakers signed by John Lithgow are up for grabs again—and for now, at a discount.
The one-of-a-kind pair of shoes—originally sold last month as part of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s ongoing charity prop auction—were re-listed on eBay late Sunday night, with a new closing time of 10:30pm ET on Monday.
The shoes (and matching autographed jersey), which Lithgow wore in a January 24, 2025 sketch on the show, first hit the auction site March 18 and closed a week later with a winning bid of $3,500. As of this writing, the high bid on the relisted item sits at $1,500.
No explanation was given for the do-over.
As before, 100% of the proceeds from the auction will benefit World Central Kitchen, with the package including free U.S. shipping and a certificate of authenticity signed by Stephen Colbert.
The original $3,500 sale price put the Air Lithgows toward the lower end of the show’s recent prop-auction haul. Other items from the same stretch have fetched significantly higher sums, including Colbert’s guest chair ($30,300), signed final-episode scripts from The Colbert Report and The Late Show ($26,500), and a replica Lord of the Rings sword that topped out at $35,100.
Even quirkier lots—like a pair of glasses worn by John Oliver ($5,800)—have landed in a similar or higher range.
The Late Show‘s original “Air Lithgow” sketch featured the Oscar-nominated actor touting footwear designed to reflect “the range of my work in both comedy and drama.” The segment aired following an AFC Championship lead-in, with Lithgow gamely pitching the shoes as capable of helping wearers “break ankles and make suckers cry more than Terms of Endearment.”
Whether the relisting stems from a canceled transaction, a non-paying bidder, or something else entirely remains unclear. For now, the shoes are back—and, at least temporarily, a relative bargain.
With several hours left on the clock, that may not last. For more details—and to place your bid—visit the listing on eBay.
