Saturday Night Live UK has set its next two hosts and musical guests as it prepares to return for the back half of its inaugural season.
After taking this week off, the series resumes April 25 with Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan making her hosting debut. She’ll be joined by Foo Fighters, marking the band’s first appearance on SNL UK—and notably, the first non-British musical guest booked by the show. The group are longtime Saturday Night Live staples, having appeared on the U.S. series nine times.
Coughlan’s hosting turn will mark her second appearance on SNL UK, having previously cameoed on the show’s Tina Fey-hosted series premiere.
A week later, on May 2, The White Lotus breakout Aimee Lou Wood will host, with rising British artist MEEK set as the musical guest.
Wood’s booking comes after a somewhat fraught history with SNL. She was portrayed by Sarah Sherman in last year’s “White Potus” sketch, a parody of The White Lotus that swapped in political figures. Shortly after its airing, Wood weighed in on social media saying she found the depiction “mean and unfunny,” taking issue with the show’s exaggerated physical portrayal of her. “I don’t mind caricature…I understand that’s what SNL is,” she wrote on Instagram, “but…the rest of the skit was punching up and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down.” She later revealed that she had received apologies from the show.
At the time, there was speculation that Wood might appear on SNL during her White Lotus co-star Walton Goggins’ subsequent hosting stint, but that cameo never materialized.
Both Coughlan and Wood continue SNL UK’s emphasis on British-born talent, with Foo Fighters the lone international act among the newly announced bookings.
Following its brief hiatus, SNL UK will air four consecutive weeks of new episodes, wrapping its eight-episode first season on May 16—the same night the stateside Saturday Night Live is set to air its Season 51 finale.
